NEW DELHI, Feb 28 : The Indian Cricket Board said it was not aware of any objection raised by its Pakistani counterpart over Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama inaugurating Pakistan's tour opener in Dharmashala on 3rd March.
"BCCI is yet to get any communication from the Pakistan Cricket Board over the matter. So we are not aware whether they have any reservation over any issue," BCCI senior vice-president Rajiv Shukla told reporters.
Media reports in Pakistan said yesterday that PCB had expressed its reservation over the Dalai Lama inaugurating the three-day match.
They also said the PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan spoke to the Indian Board officials on Saturday insisting that Pakistan should not be put in an "embarrassing" position as it enjoyed very good relations with China.
Shukla said BCCI officials would talk to Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, the hosts of the three-day match, over the issue before taking any decision.
The HPCA had announced a couple a days back that the Dalai Lama would inaugurate the match. |
